Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon (DVM) to join our progressive and collaborative team to practice without supervision in a thriving small animal hospital equipped with a fantastic team, great equipment and even greater clientele. This role is ideal for a veterinarian with a strong interest in surgery who is looking to develop and expand their surgical skillset in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

At Firth Veterinary Hospital, you’ll be part of a team of 20, working together to deliver high-quality care to feline and canine patients while utilizing modern tools like Loom, Zoom, and cloud-based systems to enhance communication and workflow.

Your Role (Job Description)

• Conduct thorough examinations of feline and canine patients to diagnose health conditions
• Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures
• Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient
• Monitor patient recovery and adjust treatments as needed
• Utilize laboratory diagnostics to support clinical decision-making
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet parents
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
• Collaborate closely with RVTs and team members to ensure high-quality patient care
• Participate in ongoing learning and contribute to a team-focused environment

 

What We’re Looking For

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution
• Licensed to Practice in Ontario with NO SUPERVISION
• Minimum 5 years of solid surgical experience
• Experience or comfort with both medical and surgical case management
• Laboratory experience is highly valued
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability

 

Schedule

• Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
