Carpenter Lead Hand

Trappeur Homes Ltd. builds houses in remote locations throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

Job Description:

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
• Survey building locations and levels
• Instruct apprentices
• Supervise other workers
• Co-ordinate trades
• Fit and install siding, soffit, fascia, roofing, decking, railings and all other exterior finishes
• Fit and install cabinets, countertops and appliances
• Prep and spray finish interior woodwork
• Prep and stain exterior woodwork
• Setup and maintain remote work camp
• Ensure safe work operations in remote settings
• Drive to remote work sites delivering tools, job materials and supplies to job sites.

 

Requirements

• Education: Some secondary school is required.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience, including supervisory experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 5 years of experience, then completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship and some college or industry courses in carpentry is required.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license is required.
• Carpenter Red Seal Certificate is required or International equivalent is required.
• Ability to supervise at least 4 workers.

Salary: 42 CAD hourly. 40-45 hours per week.

Important Information: Work schedule is 21 days on and 10 days off - During the 21 days on we take a half-day off in the middle of the shift.  Regular schedule is from 6:30am-6pm. Daily work hours may vary depending on the business needs.
