We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to help guide our Nation’s growth, strengthen our governance, and enhance the well-being of our members.

As Director of Operations, you will serve as the senior administrative leader responsible for the overall management of the Nation’s operations, programs, and strategic initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape and implement the strategic direction set by Chief and Council
  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team across Finance, HR, and community      
    programs
  • Strengthen governance, accountability, and organizational performance
  • Ensure responsible financial management and long-term sustainability
  • Support economic development and build strong external partnerships
  • Foster a workplace culture grounded in respect, collaboration, and Indigenous values
  • Manage funding agreements for the Nation across multiple projects and
     initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including
    Indigenous Services Canada and external partners
  • Oversee reporting and compliance requirements related to funding agreements and program delivery
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to support community priorities and long-term growth.

 

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business, Public Administration, Indigenous Governance, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of senior leadership experience in complex organizations
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous governance and funding frameworks
  • Proven financial and organizational leadership skills
  • The ability to build trust and strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Cultural awareness and respect for Indigenous traditions and protocols
  • Prepared to relocate to Waterhen Lake First Nation community
