Job Title:

Live-in Caregiver/Personal Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In Home Caregiver and Personal Support Worker to provide essential support and assistance to an elderly male client in his own home. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about helping others, especially seniors with cognitive and physical impairments, and who possess a strong sense of empathy and professionalism. The caregiver will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for said client by delivering personalized care tailored to his needs, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity.

Duties

• Assist client with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and well-being.
• Provide patient care including medication administration, basic wound care, and monitoring health status under supervision or as trained.
• Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and assist with feeding if necessary.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
• Support clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when required, ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation.
• Assist with specialized care needs related to dementia, and working with individuals with disabilities.
• Follow care plans accurately and document observations or changes in client condition for healthcare team review.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Fluent in English.
• Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or home care is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of patient care practices and caregiving techniques tailored to seniors or individuals with disabilities.
• Experience working with dementia patients is a plus.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility needs.
• Strong communication skills and compassionate demeanor essential for building trust with clients.
• College-level certification as a personal support worker is required.
• Live-in is required. On-site private accommodations available at no charge.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends if needed.
