Meaningful Part-Time Role - One-on-One Support (Autism & Epilepsy) Support Worker (Part-Time, Temporary - Potential for Increased Hours)

Seeking a compassionate and reliable support person to assist my 19 year old son in becoming employment-ready.

This is a part-time, temporary position (8-10 hours per week) with the potential for increased hours once employment is secured and ongoing support is required.

My son is high-functioning autistic and lives with epilepsy. He is capable and motivated but requires consistent guidance, supervision, and support in building independence and confidence in community and work settings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting job readiness (resume building, interview prep, job search support)
  • Accompanying him in the community and on public transit
  • Providing supervision at all times (cannot be left alone)
  • Teaching and reinforcing life skills (organization, communication, daily routines)
  • Supporting transition into a workplace and helping him acclimate once hired

Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification (proof required)
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with autism and/or epilepsy preferred
  • Reliable, patient, and encouraging approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must provide references

Additional Details: Hours: 8-10 hours/week to start (increasing after employment is secured)

Pay: $19/hour Payment schedule: Monthly

Where: Community-based (must be comfortable using local transit)

This role is ideal for someone in social work, education, or disability support who is looking for meaningful, one-on-one experience making a real impact. Must be comfortable giving emergency rescue medication in the event of a seizure. Interviews to take place in person with young person and mom.
