Duties/Responsibilities/Skills:
As per NOC 41221, Elementary school and kindergarten teachers, Elementary school teachers:
- Attend educational conferences and workshops
- Discuss results and students’ progress with them, their parents and school officials
- Evaluate and document students’ progress
- Participate in staff meetings
- Provide tutoring assistance
- Supervise teaching assistants and train student teachers
- Assign and correct homework
- Develop course content
- Identify childrens' individual learning needs
- Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development and their school readiness
- Prepare, administer and correct tests
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
- Prepare subject material for presentation according to an approved curriculum
- Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trip
Salary: 71,461 to 115,716 annually (To be negotiated as per collective agreement) / 35-40 hours per week
Employment conditions: Day, Early Morning, Morning
Education: Bachelor's degree
Credentials: Provincial Teaching Certificate required
Languages: English
