Job Purpose:
Cidel Trust Company is a federally regulated trust company and part of the Cidel group of companies. Cidel Trust Company acts as a corporate trustee for a wide range of high-net-worth individuals and corporate clients. We are currently looking for experienced and qualified candidates to fill an Associate Trust Officer role in our Calgary, Alberta office.
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly expanding global wealth management firm and help shape the trust team. The right candidate will have a direct impact on the business and his/her input will be welcomed at all levels of the organization.
This role will be responsible for the management and administration of an assigned book of Trust and Estate accounts, providing timely, efficient and accurate administration. In addition, this role supports other Trust Officers with management and administration of an assigned book of Trust and Estate accounts providing timely, efficient and accurate administration. A keen attention to detail along with the ability to work in a team-based environment are essential skills to be successful in this role.
Key Areas of Accountability:
- Administer, and assists other Trust Officers, with Trust and Estate Administration – preparation of various statements, letters, annual review forms and other documents as well as pro-actively moving accounts through this process.
- Maintain timely written, verbal, and electronic communication with internal and external contacts, where required.
- Ensures, and assists other Trust Officers in ensuring, all trust administration is carried out in accordance with the terms of governing documents, relevant legislation, client needs, and group policy.
- Provides excellent service to clients and other team members and understands the need for operational efficacy.
- Responds to, and assists Senior Trust Officers in responding to, client queries and referring any matters requiring the exercise of discretionary powers to the Trust Recommendation Committee.
- Ensures all account information on internal systems is up to date, complete, and accurate.
- Makes effective use of all support groups to ensure efficient administration and quality client service.
- Assists other Cidel group team members in various Trust and Estate related activities.

Credentials and Experience Requirements:
- Understanding of relevant legal terminology and concepts
- Post-secondary education or equivalent.
- 5 or more years of experience working in trust industry, trust investments, legal, or client services.
- Excellent written/verbal/electronic communication skills.
- General understanding of trust accounting principles.
- Ability to work effectively with others and perceived as a professional business partner with clients and coworkers.
- Ability to resolve issues and aspects of administration independently.
