Live-In Caregiver - Elderly Woman with Dementia
Full-Time Live-In Caregiver
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced live-in caregiver to provide full-time support for a 94-year-old woman living with dementia in a private home setting. This role requires someone who is patient, attentive, and comfortable providing hands-on personal care, medication support, and meaningful companionship while respecting the dignity and routines of an elderly individual.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in a live-in scenario with dementia care, understands the importance of routine and reassurance, and can adapt to changing daily needs while maintaining a calm and supportive presence in the home.
Compensation
- Wages $20/hour.
Hours of Work
- Approximately 6.0 hours per day of active care
- Care is structured around morning routines, meals, daytime activities, and bedtime
- Flexible scheduling within the daily routine
Overnight Presence
This is a live-in position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with morning and bedtime routines, including washing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Provide shower assistance at least three times weekly, and more often if required
- Provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, continence care, and toileting
- Ensure prescribed medications is taken, including insulin injections, as directed
- Monitor overall health, hydration, and well-being
- Prepare and assist with nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Encourage safe mobility, light exercise, and fall prevention
- Accompany the client to medical, physiotherapy, and social appointments
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and help maintain a clean and safe living environment
- Assist with grocery shopping and household supplies (in-person or online)
- Provide companionship, conversation, reassurance, and emotional support to enhance quality of life
Requirements
- Previous experience caring for seniors with dementia, preferably in a live-in role
- Health Care Aide or care giving training/certification is an asset
- Demonstrated experience administering medications and insulin
- Strong command of the English language, communication skills, patience, empathy, and reliability
- Ability to commit to a live-in arrangement in the employer’s home
- Valid driver’s license is an asset
