Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Abatement Worker to join our team. This role involves performing hazardous material removal and remediation tasks in compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining safe work environments. Prior experience in construction, restoration, or mold remediation is a plus, along with knowledge of OHS regulations and asbestos abatement procedures. Job sites may vary and are located within HRM and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

Perform asbestos abatement, mold remediation, and other hazardous material removal tasks in accordance with provincial regulations.
Set up containment areas and ensure proper sealing of work zones.
Use specialized equipment and protective gear to safely remove hazardous materials
Follow all safety protocols and procedures during abatement projects
Assist with site cleanup and disposal of hazardous waste according to regulatory guidelines
Document work activities and report any safety concerns or incidents promptly
Collaborate with team members to ensure project completion on time and within safety standards

Qualifications

Prior experience in asbestos abatement, mold remediation, or related environmental cleanup considered an asset
Background in construction or restoration industries is considered an asset
Ability to:
- Operate basic tools and equipment used in abatement projects
- Lift 30-50 lbs unaided.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Willingness to learn new skills and adhere to strict safety guidelines for hazardous material removal
Must be able to:
- Wear required personal protective equipment such as full face respirator and tyvek suit.
- Commute to and from job sites with own forces.
- Participate in out of town work when required.
