Steel Stud Framer-Carpentry

Position: Full-time, Permanent and non-seasonal
Number of positions available: 1
Work Hours: 35-40 hours per week
Work Location: In person; various construction sites in Metro Vancouver
Wage rate: CAD $38.00 per hour
Work timings: Early morning, Daytime, Evening, Morning, Night (occasionally).
Position start date: As soon as possible
Minimum Education required: Secondary (high) school graduation

Job Duties:

Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements;
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools;
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials;
Instruct & Supervise other workers & apprentices;
Maintain, repair and renovate metal and and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other commercial establishments;
Install exterior and interior steel studs;
Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings;
Install door & window frames and other hardware;
Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath;
Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools;
Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress.

Work Requirements:

Minimum 2 years proven experience in carpentry is essential.
Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematic interpretation is required.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation is necessary.
Expertise in Acoustic Ceiling & wall partitions installation is advantageous.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Must be legally authorised to work in Canada.
Physically demanding work.
Work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work independently.
