Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and families, providing evidence-based physiotherapy services that support the development of movement skills, physical health, and overall well-being. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to create a holistic treatment plan for each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physical needs, movement abilities, and motor skills of each child.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, targeting gross motor skills, strength, balance, coordination, and functional mobility.
- Provide physiotherapy interventions, including exercises, manual therapy, and movement strategies, to improve physical functioning and quality of life.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals (e.g., Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Psychologists) to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Educate families and caregivers on exercises, strategies, and home programs to enhance the child’s progress and independence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.
- Stay up-to-date with research, best practices, and professional development opportunities in pediatric physiotherapy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited program.
- Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPTA) or other relevant professional body.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with neurodiverse or neurodevelopmental needs, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of pediatric physiotherapy best practices and treatment techniques.
