Heavy Equipment Operator

Macadam Construction is a Halifax-based company responsible for the construction & development of projects ranging from subdivisions & commercial plazas to high-rise mixed-use developments with residential, commercial, and retail tenants, to traditional apartments.

We are currently hiring an Experienced Excavator Operator to join our team and continue expanding our portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials,
• Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift,
• Excavating, loading and off loading rocks, debris and other materials,
• Advising the foreman of required upgrades, repairs and replacements as necessary.

Qualifications

• Hardworking individual,
• Must have your own personal protection equipment (hard hat, steal toed boots, reflective vest,
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Experience on a commercial site is preferred
• Midrise demolition experience is an asset

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent,
• A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines,
• Capacity to follow directions,
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment,
• Excellent vision or use of prescribed lenses,
• Sharp decision making skills, particularly when under pressure.
• Nova Scotia Resident
• Valid Drivers License
