General Farm Worker - Livestock

Hacienda Santa Maria is a specialized Paso Fino horse breeding farm located in Erin, Ontario, dedicated to the preservation, training, and sale of high-quality Paso Fino horses. We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking General Farm Worker to support our daily farm operations and assist in the ongoing success of our breeding and sales program.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Feed, groom, and exercise horses daily, ensuring high standards of care.
• Assist with the handling and training of foals and young horses.
• Monitor and record signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in stalls, paddocks, and barns.
• Support the breeding program by monitoring mares, maintaining breeding records, and caring for newborn foals.
• Assist veterinarians and farriers during routine and emergency visits.
• Prepare horses for sales presentations, showcases, or events.
• Perform general maintenance tasks such as fence repairs, barn upkeep, and equipment handling.
• Operate small machinery (e.g., tractors, ATVs) for feeding, cleaning, and field work.
• Keep detailed logs of feeding, medications, farrier, and veterinary care.
• Follow biosecurity protocols and farm safety procedures.

Requirements:

• Experience working with horses, preferably in a breeding or training environment.
• Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of horse health and behavior is an asset.
• Previous experience with Paso Fino or gaited breeds is a strong advantage.
