We are looking for caring and compassionate caregiver to provide care and companionship to our elderly family member.

Job duties:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties to support a healthy lifestyle of an older person (75 years old):

• Plan and prepare healthy vegetarian meals suitable for the needs of the father.
• Provide companionship and care for him.
• Maintain hygiene, sanitization, cleanness to ensure a necessary healthy environment.
• Provide bedside and personal care to father, such as personal hygiene, medication reminder, and escort to medical appointments when required.
• Perform general housekeeping duties like making beds, laundry, and helping in the kitchen
• Shop for food and household supplies when required.
• Assist in regular exercise regimes appropriate for father, for example, accompanying for evening walks in summer and ‘in-house’ simple physical exercises during winters.
• Occasionally coordinate with pharmacy/laboratories and doctor’s office for prescription and appointments
• Treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect.
• Occasionally travel with mother when required for health and other compelling reasons (the employer will cover relevant travel costs).

Requirements:

• Previous demonstrable experience to care for elderly persons.
• Completion of secondary school.
• Training as a caregiver is an asset but not a mandatory requirement.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have basic communication skills in English.
• The ability to read, write and speak the Punjabi language will be an asset.
• Attention to detail in all areas of work.
• Reliability and strong organization skills.
• Cultural and spiritual sensitivity toward the father.

Wages: wage $22.00 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Work Hours: Minimum 35 hours per week; some weekends may be required.
