Carpenter

We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated general carpenter to join our team. This position is full-time and offers a strong compensation based on experience and expertise. We are looking for a well-rounded individual with at least 2 years experience. Our construction company specializes in residential construction of high-quality decks, railings, patios, fences and other structures across various locations in Ontario.

Term: Permanent employment, Full-time

Hours: Full time (30-50 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

Wage: $32.50/hour

Vacation: 2 weeks

Language of work: English

English level skills: at functional level as determined by Terra decks Inc.

Start: as soon as possible

Work setting: Construction

Area of specialization: Decking, fencing, balconies, stairs and railings, pergolas

Education: secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• General and/or rough carpentry duties as assigned
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
• Maintain, repair, and renovate wooden structures
• Selecting lumber as per the requirements of the project
• Quality control of the assigned tasks
• Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace

Skills:

• Sound knowledge of carpentry aspects in residential deck construction
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Task execution in an efficient, safe, and profitable manner
• Ability to use hand and power tools, including drills, saws, nail guns, chisels, and sanders

Work experience: at least 2 years of carpentry experience

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads as well as large workload and physically demanding.
