Gearbase Camera rentals is located in Downtown, Vancouver, BC, just outside of the Waterfront Station.
We rent all types of equipment for film and photography.
We are hiring an Equipment and Repairs Manager to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. The Equipment and Repairs Manager position is a management role that is responsible for handling the coordination, and maintenance of rental equipment. Their main responsibility is to oversee and supervise the rental and repair departments to ensure that all equipment is sent out with clients in good functioning condition. This includes supervising a team of Equipment Testers and Prep Technicians to ensure the camera gear is properly tested and reset to a standard setting - as well as designing new procedures for new equipment being incorporated into the inventory. When equipment is received in a damaged state, the E&R Manager must assess the damage - they will either conduct repairs themselves, supervise staff performing the repairs, or coordinate larger repairs with off-site repair facilities. This means the candidate should possess an in-depth knowledge of all kinds of camera, lighting, audio, and grip equipment.
The role requires a self-sufficient individual who possesses excellent problem solving, time management and people management skills. The Manager's role works closely with the Rental Agents to organize the schedule of repairs, updates, sending and receiving equipment from repair facilities, and ingesting new equipment into the rental system. The aim is to minimize downtime of damaged equipment, ensure accurate fulfillment of orders, and to find alternative solutions in cases where equipment is not presently available.
The E&R Manager's role is also client-facing. The candidate is expected to have both technical and practical knowledge of the equipment present in the shop, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
When clients have elaborate questions about rental equipment, or broader questions about technical solutions to their projects, the E&R Manager coordinates and supervises the methods for resolving client issues. The candidate must therefore possess an intuition about various kinds of audio and video productions to ensure clients find the best gear for the job, all with a kind and helpful disposition.
