Salary Range: $58,000 - $64,000 

Overview: Our well-established housing cooperative is seeking a dedicated and proactive maintenance coordinator and building caretaker to oversee preventative and repair maintenance, manage records, and ensure the upkeep of our buildings. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintenance coordination within a residential housing or cooperative environment and be skilled in site management and hands-on repair tasks. 

This is an on-site, 35-hour-a-week position directly reporting to the Board of Directors.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordination & Reporting: Organize and execute maintenance tasks and coordinate activities with contractors and committees. 
  • Maintenance Records: Update and maintain the Maintenance Care database, ensuring accurate documentation and security measures. 
  • Repair & Preventative Maintenance: Administer maintenance requests, schedule tasks, and ensure satisfactory completion of repairs and preventative work. 
  • On-Site Duties: Conduct weekly site inspections, address maintenance issues, and manage communal area and recycling room. 
  • Inspections & Moves: Plan and coordinate unit inspections, move-in/move-out activities, and handle related repairs and updates.  
  • Cleaning Responsibilities: Minor routine cleaning and upkeep of communal areas and building perimeter ensure overall cleanliness of the property. 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Experience with using computers and maintenance software 
  • Proven background in maintenance coordination, preferably in a housing or cooperative setting. 
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to handle minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and general upkeep. 
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Interest in promoting self-sufficiency among cooperative members. 
  • Experience with building custodial and maintenance duties.
