Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems and components for various projects. Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, electrical utility companies, and contractors.
Develop detailed electrical designs, including but not limited to:
- Power distribution systems
- Generator emergency backup power
- UPS and inverter power backup
- Fire alarm systems
- Lighting and emergency lighting
- Renewable energy systems
- Instrumentation and control systems
Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
Apply relevant codes, including the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code, ULC, and NFPA Fire Alarm Standards.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and manuals.
Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from conception to completion.
Conduct construction inspections to ensure design compliance.
Conduct fire alarm verification in the field.
Design and set up IT networks tailored to small business needs.
Provide engineering support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our design processes.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of safety policies and procedures.
Travel to client sites, mostly in Alberta and British Columbia.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience in designing power system distributions for telecom facilities.
Experience in designing fire alarm systems for telecom facilities.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design engineering of:
- Power distribution and emergency backup systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Instrumentation and control systems
Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and design principles.
In-depth knowledge of the following codes and standards:
- Canadian Electrical Code
- National Building Code – Alberta Edition
- ULC and NFPA Fire Alarm Standards
- Telecommunication standards
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Proficiency in MATLAB and LABVIEW.
Proficiency in ETAP Power System Analysis Software.
Proficiency in MS Windows and Linux operating systems.
Strong knowledge of network security equipment, specifically Fortigate firewalls.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, small company environment.
