The Rivershed Society of BC (Rivershed) is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our regional engagement team in Lillooet or Williams Lake. The Regional Assistant will support Riversheds programs and outreach, including attending events such as farmer’s markets and community festivals.

The ideal candidate is passionate about Watershed CPR (Connect, Protect, Restore), has strong communication skills and is confident engaging with the public. This position will work ~70% from a home office and ~30% in-person, with some evenings and weekends. The candidate must be comfortable working with remote supervision and have an appropriate home office with a laptop or computer, reliable internet, and access to a vehicle. This role is made possible by the Canada Summer Jobs grant and requires the applicant to be 15 – 30 years old at the time of hiring.

Duties Include:

  • Support outreach to community groups, NGOs, institutions, and other collaborators in alignment with Rivershed’s mission and goals.
  • Support coordination and development of on-site programs and activities, working with the team to ensure all components relevant to programs and events are planned, delivered and evaluated.
  • Represent Rivershed at events as required.
  • Work with the engagement team to keep the contact database (Keela) up to date and effective.
  • Assist with creating presentations and documents as needed.
  • Provide content to ensure external communications for programs and events are accurate, accessible and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff and team meetings as required, as well as ongoing decolonization and reconciliation discussions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Customer service and/or tabling experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (primarily Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel).
  • BC Driver’s License (Class 7 or above), and access to a vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of issues that affect the Fraser Watershed.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to stay on task while working both independently and collaboratively with a remote team.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent follow through.
  • A positive team player who thrives in a cooperative, collaborative environment.
