The Masonry Labourer supports the masons and are responsible for the transporting materials to the work area and scaffolding where the masons are working.  They mix and transport grout, cut bricks as needed for corners arches and complex patterns, and perform other duties as directed by their foreman.  In order to be successful, labourers must have a strong work ethis and be very quality minded.

Details of the position:

  • Permanent, full time position
  • $25 to $30 per hour
  • 10 paid vacation days

Job Duties:

  • Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding in various configurations
  • Mix mortar using bagged cement and sand and on larger jobs gavity fe mortar silo's
  • Assist forklift operators when setting up scaffolding and landing material, signal operators to guide them in and assistance in other activities
  • Assist in:
    • Drilling and installing rebar
    • Minor masonry demolition using pry bars and other tools, oil salvaged materials
  • Ability to make straight accurate cuts using a handheld quickcut
  • Remove rubble and other debris using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
  • Clean and maintaintools and equipment to ensure they function properly
  • Move and lift heavy materials, including bags of mortar, bricks, concrete blocks and stone
  • Use  various tools and equipment such as trowels, levels, saws, mixers to carry out masonry tasks
  • Maintain bricklayers materials and supplies, ensuring they do not run out
  • Assist Bricklayers in misc. construction activities

Requirments:

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Lift weight of 100 pounds
  • Productively work with others as a team member as well as independently
  • Demonstarte safe work habits amd apply safe practices
  • Must have own transportation
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • High school preferred
