Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Coordinator

Tecnicas Reunidas (“TR”) Group is an international general contractor engaging in the engineering, procurement and construction of various types of industrial facilities for a broad spectrum of customers throughout the world, including many of the international oil and gas companies.

TR Alberta Inc. is a Tecnicas Reunidas branch that manages the Group’s operations in Canada from its offices in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities: (will include but are not limited to)

  • Manage I&C area by providing technical guidance during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Lead and support construction team with resolving all instrument, control & electrical technical issues.
  • Responsible for Motor Controls Loop, Fire & Gas Loop.
  • Supervise and check between instrumentation and control systems installation and start up.
  • Responsible as a Team Leader for Complex Loop and Interlocks Emergency Shut Down functional test.
  • Maintaining and modifying existing systems.
  • Manage on site I&C installation, proper operation and provide I&C equipment solutions in regards to construction and equipment installation, set up and operation.
  • Supervise Control Valves Packages Safety & Relief installation.
  • Perform Test for COGEN Power Plant
  • Work in collaboration and coordinate the participation of various internal areas: design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers, and other internal staff.
  • Responsible for Communications & Control as well as Instrument Packages
  • Performed Fire Detection System Test
  • Assist project management within cost and time constrained environments.
  • Provide guidance, advice and consultancy support to site construction department in regard to all I&C matters.
  • Accepting responsibility and a level of accountability commensurate with the seniority of the position
  • Manage and provide directions on electrical scope and requirements to the suppliers and construction site staff based on specifications included in the procurement agreement.
  • Compile and submit completed inspection report in a timely manner.
  • Manage and communicate issues, questions, or concerns to construction site supervisors as well as implementing contractor’s workers.
  • Organize the manpower, equipment, tools, materials, and design necessary to support project construction schedule to be available.

Required Skills:

Reporting to the Project Director, the candidate will be required to assess and ensure that all systems, equipment, and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely within the units assigned to TR in the construction of a cogeneration power plant within TR client plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

  • Demonstrated experience as construction manager/ team leading in Oil and Gas and industrial construction projects.
  • Knowledgeable of I&C responsibilities and commissioning activities related with power plants, O&G and Cogeneration units.
  • Knowledge in Engineering Software such as INTOOLS, MARIAN; Project Management Software – PRIMAVERA P6, SURETRACK, MS PROJECT
  • Organized, problem-solver, time management, great communications skills.
  • Able to work in a dynamic team environment and under tight time constraints.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and meet specified deadlines.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power point
  • This role may require intermittent travel to other project sites. Candidates must be experienced and trained in this type of projects equipment and installations, organized, able to multitask and able to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic remote construction environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Engineering College/University degree along with Electrical and Telecom technical training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial plants construction, specifically in instrumentation and control systems installation as well as a minimum of 3 years in Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning activities in oil and gas industry.

 

Number of Positions: 1

Hours of work (shifts):  44 hours/week. Permanent – Full Time. OT eligible over 44 hours, paid at 1.5 and/or paid time off. Rotation flights provided by employer after each 12 weeks for single employees and after 6 months for employees with their families in location.

Salary range:  $150,000-$160,000 annual
