Job Summary:

The incumbent provides basic customer service and responds to inquiries in a fast paced recreation facility. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide member services support at the Canada Games Centre that may include scanning membership cards, providing wristbands, and looking up client accounts to validate access.

Answer standard inquiries and refers request or complaints.  Provide information on programs, activities, pass sales, and facility bookings.  Direct customers to appropriate staff for assistance.  Follow, so far as us reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.  Other related duties. 

This description contains elements necessary for identification and evaluation of the job. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties.

Working Conditions:

Majority of work is performed in a public recreation environment with constant exposure to noisy conditions and direct public contact. Hours of work between 05:00 and 24:00, Sunday to Saturday, including evening and weekend work.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • 3 months previous related experience and 3 months on the job training. 
  • Knowledge of Recreation Activity Management System and databases.
  • RCMP Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR, Level C.
  • WHMIS.
  • Customer service training 
  • Excel training.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders. 

Examples of Required Equipment To Operate: 

First aid, general office and communication equipment including Recreation Activity Management System, Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and ERP. 

Other Details: 

Note: The City of Whitehorse requires that all employees be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 by February 20, 2022. Employees will be considered to be fully vaccinated 14 days after they have received both doses of a vaccine approved by Health Canada that requires two doses to complete the vaccination series. The City’s definition of full vaccination may change and any such change will be informed by direction from the Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) and public health authorities.
