In Saskatoon, we own and operate group homes that support physically and cognitively challenged adults.

The Position:

In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, we are seeking a Maintenance Worker to join our Group Home team. Applicants will be responsible for carrying out home repairs, maintenance and restoration.  As well, this position completes grounds keeping duties and regularly checks the operation of household equipment/appliances and maintenance repairs by off-site contractors.


  • Operates all equipment (power tools, lawn mower, gas weed trimmer, fertilizer spreader, hand tools, garden tools, etc)
  • Assigned preventative maintenance duties on plant equipment as prescribed or detailed in the applicable maintenance manuals
  • Take specific action to resolve issues associated with malfunctioning equipment
  • Inspect emergency systems/detectors in accordance with government regulations and record all pertinent data
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs
  • Seasonal grounds duties including lawn cutting and snow removal
  • Perform suite painting, general carpentry and plumbing repairs when required
  • Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action where required
  • Attend LutherCare Communities planning meetings when required
  • Ability to identify, analyze and generate solutions to problems based on established policies and procedures
  • Assist with annual inspections and service contracts
  • Communicate in a professional manner to other employees and outside agencies Participate on the Occupational Health & Safety committee
  • Abide by Policies and Procedures of LutherCare Communities
  • Complete other job-related tasks as assigned by the Manager

The Applicants:

Applicants would typically qualify for this position through the completion of a grade 12 education with previous experience performing the accountabilities and working with individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities.  Applicants must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to understand, read, write and speak English fluently.

Requirements: Applicants must hold a valid class 5 driver's license and have a vehicle they would be willing and able to use for work purposes.
