Deeley Fabbri Sellen LLP law firm is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join the Solicitors Department at their downtown Winnipeg office.

The Legal Assistant will assist in the delivery of legal services by performing a variety of tasks, including locating and compiling information, drafting, preparing and proofreading legal and administrative documents (e.g., acts, contracts, legal opinions, procedures, correspondence, etc.), filing court documents, as well as applying various practices and procedures related to the field of law. Legal assistants also perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining and organizing files, responding to client inquiries and conducting follow-up, organizing meetings and other general administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Law environment and will possess the following additional skills:

  • Legal training in a related certificate or diploma program (significant experience would be acceptable in lieu of formal training)
  • Strong knowledge of basic legal concepts, terminology, and principles
  • Exceptional writing skills including proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation with a solid understanding of general business correspondence formats 
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • High-level of attention to detail
  • Experience with dicta-phone/dictation
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office/365
  • Experience with PC Law would be an asset
  • Experience with Estate administration would be an asset
