QA Technician

Pure Foods Meat Solutions Inc. is a family-owned entrepreneurial company that specializes in meat processing to major retail chains and food service customers in Ontario and across Canada.  We produce a wide selection of specialty meat products to serve Canadian families.

This position supports the Quality Assurance Manager, assists plant Management and plant employees in the monitoring and recording of plant processes to ensure food-safe products. General responsibilities include observing and recording employee activities, material checks and verifying standard Quality and Food Safety protocol in all production areas. Working in a temperature-controlled environment this position reports to the Quality Assurance and HACCP Manager.

Key Specific Responsibilities:

  • Completing pre-op inspections, plant audits and packing/labelling monitoring sheets
  • Verifying correct labels are being applied to product
  • Boneless audit report; metal detector checks
  • Completing packaging tracking log
  • Ensures monitoring standards and task instructions are being performed (i.e. proper spices used and as per Allergen Control Program)
  • Temperature recording of meat production and storage areas
  • Completing production planning schedule as per product sequence
  • Recording weight checks from each production line
  • Verifying Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are being followed
  • Taking shelf life product samples
  • Doing inline check weights
  • Verify labels and spice units received
  • Liaison with supervisors, employees and managers regarding quality and foods safety issues throughout production and the plant
  • Other food safety and quality related tasks as needed

Qualifications/Experience:

  • 2 – 4 years of experience in a similar role; preferable in food/meat processing or related industry
  • Food plant experience is a must
  • Good oral and written English skills
  • Relevant post-secondary education/training
  • Superior observation skills and attention to detail
  • Technical certification in Quality or Food Safety is desirable
  • Reliability, good attendance, and ability to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays

Monday to Friday regular day shift. 

Position wage rate: $18 - $20 an hour (depending on qualifications)
