Paraza Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Paraza Pharma Inc., is engaged in developing novel drug discovery technologies to support its drug discovery research services. Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the company is developing novel chemical technologies including chemically complex scaffolds and screening libraries to support the drug screening platform.

The company is seeking energetic, results-oriented individuals with proven track records of success to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate is expected to have highly evolved synthetic organic chemistry skills, including an established track record of designing and synthesizing complex organic molecules. The successful candidate must possess more than ten years of laboratory experience in designing, planning and producing small molecule chemical libraries. Additionally, the candidate must be a thought leader in the field of screening libraries as demonstrated by extensive record of publications in peer reviewed journals. We are seeking a candidate who is able to work effectively with senior management and a team of scientists.

The candidate will play a leading role in the company and will be responsible for developing strategies and proposals to design and synthesize small molecule chemical libraries.  The key responsibilities of the successful candidate include the following:

  • Design and produce small molecule chemical libraries
  • Design and synthesize complex organic molecules in most effective manner;
  • Deliver on project goals;
  • Present summaries of project status vs. plans;
  • Make effective decisions in the absence of complete information and when under pressure, and enable others to act decisively by clarifying roles and responsibilities;
  • Work collaboratively across boundaries to establish common purpose and deliver value while identifying and addressing issues that may inhibit effective collaboration;
  • Liaise between clients and internal operations to ensure clear communication, by maintaining project timelines with relevant task responsibilities, and milestones;
  • Effective team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry (Candidate with M.Sc. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry will also be considered, provided bulk of skill set is in the field of small molecule chemical libraries) 
  • Eight (8) to fifteen (15) years of experience in the field of design and synthesis of small molecule chemical libraries;
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical field will be considered an asset;
  • Exceptional chemical creativity;
  • Advance knowledge and application of modern instrumentation;
  • Solid track record of designing and producing small molecule chemical libraries
  • Highly developed skills in syntheses of complex chemical with demonstrated problem solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Excellent leadership skills as demonstrated by initiative, dedication and drive to advance the project goals;
  • Prior experience managing a small team of individuals
  • Strong use of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English;
