Job Requirements:

  • At least two years of post-secondary education in geography or geographical information systems;
  • Fluency in English;
  • At least 2 years working experience in Geospatial Analysis;
  • Proven experience working independently in fast-paced consulting environment with minimum supervision and multiple conflicting deadlines;
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate strong technical sufficiency with modern GIS software, specifically ArcGIS 10.7 and ArcPro 2.5 as well as the Spatial Analyst, 3d Analyst and Network Analyst extensions;
  • The applicant must be comfortable conduction statistical analysis using both R packages as well as python both within and outside of a GIS desktop environment;
  • The applicant must be comfortable completing geospatial analysis as well as remote sensing work for the urban planning sectors as well as environment planning and engineering projects, as required;
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate strong cartographic and/or design skills and be able to cogent present their work in an approachable graphic format;
  • The applicant must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and be able to communicate methodologies to a diverse array of stakeholders and technical abilities;
  • The applicant must be cognizant of the requirements to deliver successful professional consulting services and demonstrate the following abilities/traits:
    • The ability to emphasize with and understand client considerations;
    • A drive to innovate and creatively develop solutions for complex geospatial problems;
    • The capacity to recognize value-added opportunities for geospatial analysis and apply to these to related sectors as a general practice;
    • An intuitive business sense required to grow a small consulting practice.

Job Description

  • As a GIS analyst working at a fast-paced consultancy, the successful applicate will operate in ESRI desktop and enterprise environment to model, manage, analyze and display geospatial data;
  • Develop specialized computer software routines, Internet-based GIS, database and business applications to customize geographic information;
  • Work with external organizations on data transfer and systems compatibility issues;
  • Perform data entry and editing activities and maintenance operations to systems following predetermined calibration procedures;
  • Integrate external software such as spreadsheets and statistical packages with GIS software;
  • Train and provide technical support for GIS users.
