On behalf of our client, Tikinagan Child & Family Services, we are seeking an IT Senior Manager to join their team in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Tikinagan Child & Family Services is a community-based child welfare agency rooted in and accountable to the First Nations communities they serve. With a large team of residential care workers, childcare workers, family service workers, community-based prevention workers, intake workers, and administrative staff, they protect their children, help their families and nurture their communities.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the IT Senior Manager is responsible for the maintenance and development of the computer networks. The ideal candidate will be able to manage WAN, LAN, SAN and EDI computer platforms, while looking for ways to make the networks more cost-effective and meet future needs. The IT Senior Manager is responsible for developing network maintenance and growth plans, project budgets and keeping the executive team up to date on the latest networking technologies that could help the company to succeed. This IT role will appeal to a leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day applications management, systems management, server and desktop administration
  • Research, recommend and deliver information technology strategies
  • Define IT infrastructure strategy and develop IT solutions by collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to determine requirements
  • Oversee desktop support and help desk function to troubleshoot hardware/ software issues related to internal IT
  • Develop, implement, coordinate and enforce systems, policies and procedures
  • Oversee IT projects, including the design and implementation of new IT systems and services
  • Manage and assess vendors including evaluating the functionality of systems and selecting and purchasing appropriate hardware and software
  • Design and schedule maintenance procedures and upgrades and test and modify systems to ensure continuous reliable operations
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures, including disaster recovery and back-up procedures
  • Manage secure network access and develop procedures for remote users
  • Manage annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Provide training, support, advice and feedback to users
  • Coordinate resources and timetables across department functions

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • BS in Computer Science, MIS or similar field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in IT operations
  • Experience as an IT manager or other relevant working experience
  • Experience leading and managing IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
  • Expertise in data centre management and data governance
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
  • Ability to manage and lead an IT Manager
  • Experience developing and managing IT budgets
