Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops daily production plan in conjunction with General Manager 
  • Ensures all jobs on the line are filled on a daily basis
  • Ensures that daily production schedule for the lines are completed
  • Ensures safe operations of equipment by coordinating preventative maintenance
  • Reviews yields and efficiencies and implements corrective actions for deficiencies
  • Reviews hourly line checks to ensure that all product is within specification and implements corrective actions for deficiencies
  • Develops plans for the improvement of production activities
  • Demonstrates company values in all activities and interpersonal relationships
  • Directs training of new employees
  • Assists production employees with any issues or concerns not resolved with the lead hand
  • Reviews attendance records for the line and implements discipline as required
  • Implements employee discipline procedure for other issues as required
  • Develops lead hands by training, mentoring and providing reviews (i.e.: 1 on 1’s)
  • Is accountable for enforcement of company health and safety policies within the Plant.
  • Assists Lead Hands in reporting and documenting all health and safety incidents
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Health and Safety Manual
  • Oversees that all employees work is in compliance with legislative requirements
  • Oversees the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment
  • Oversees that all production employees follow good manufacturing practices
  • Reviews hourly monitoring and documentation of critical control point checks (i.e. boneless monitoring)
  • Ensure we are following CFIA procedures
  • Assists General Manager in the development of production and expenditure budgets on an annual basis
  • Achieves financial objectives by monitoring results, analyzing results and initiating corrective actions
  • Reviews and authorizes weekly payroll
  • Keep the General Manager informed on all aspects of areas of responsibility
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum Grade 12 with some post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Meat industry background Required 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork, Teamwork and Teamwork!
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven production knowledge
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good mathematical skills
