Our client, the Manitoba 4-H Council, is seeking a Bookkeeper/Database Administrator to join their team in Brandon, Manitoba. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper/Database Administrator will also function as the Treasurer of the Manitoba 4-H Council Board.  The ideal candidate is people-oriented and performs well in a team environment.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains accounting for the organization, including payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, management reports and tax receipts
  • Prepares year-end accounts for Auditors
  • Assists the Executive Director with development of the annual budget
  • Provides the board with regular statements of revenues and expenditures
  • Responds to client queries in both written and verbal format
  • Provides database support for membership
  • Maintains database of registered members and leaders (current and inactive)
  • Monitors club, leader & member registrations (and supports registration as necessary)
  • Coordinates data verification
  • Maintains data standards, including adherence to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Acts and as per Manitoba 4-H Council Inc. policy
  • Troubleshoots and corrects issues as they arise to ensure smooth operation of database and registration processes
  • Generates reports from database system as needed
  • Liaises with database provider and Council staff on performance, maintenance and new requirements/upgrades (including security)
  • Liaises with Manitoba 4-H Council Inc. Risk Management Committee and Youth Protection Program Coordinator
  • Administers the Youth Protection Program for screening of volunteers
  • Informs volunteers regarding screening status as necessary
  • Files and maintains hard copy records of client information as required
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years experience bookkeeping
  • Experience with computerized accounting software
  • Experience in QuickBooks an asset
  • Proficient Microsoft office skills
  • Strong accounting technical skills
  • Previous experience in database management
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional customer-service skills
  • Effective communication both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task
