Estar Inc. is a specialty distributor of kitchen appliances, kitchenware, range hoods and home appliances. Headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Estar Inc. sells products to customers all across Canada. We are looking for a Procurement Manager who has senior strategic procurement experience and expert knowledge of industry suppliers in the target region. The individual in this role will develop and execute procurement strategies designed to improve business process productivity, reduce costs while improving profitability.


  • Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of procurement strategies, governance, policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Monitor market offering and suppliers? performance, identify potential suppliers, select suppliers, and prepare approved supplier list, with a focus on suppliers in China
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers as well as database for suppliers
  • Analyze the company?s needs for goods to determine present and future purchasing plans
  • Locate and develop alternate sources of supply for goods to increase competition and reduce the cost of goods purchased
  • Prepare, negotiate and administer bids, requests for quotes, requests for proposals, requests for information, contracts and other supplier documentation
  • Oversees all activities related to procurement of goods, from intent to purchase through delivery of goods
  • Handle escalations and manage dispute resolution process
  • Develop and track cost savings initiatives, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies that directly affect the company?s financial results and growth
  • Lead, hire, mentor and coach staff in procurement and purchasing functions
  • Work with team members to optimize procurement activities and efficiencies
  • Report to senior management on procurement related matters as required


  • University degree or college diploma in business, economics, finance or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in strategic procurement, supplier/contract management in kitchen/home appliance or similar industry
  • Experience with and knowledge of suppliers in China is a definite asset
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen/home appliances and the industry
  • Proficiency in Chinese is a strong asset
  • Proven track record of cost reduction through procurement strategies
  • Demonstrated expertise in communicating and building relationships
  • Ability and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally on short notice
  • Strong market awareness, financial acumen and analytical capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with general knowledge of database utilization

Wage and Benefits

  • $88,000 to $100,000 per year, based on experience and skills
