We are searching for an analytical and driven Director of Finance & Administration to join their team. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Finance & Administration plans, organizes and directs financial operations, develops the annual budget, establishes internal financial controls and ensures all financial activities adhere to funding regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles. The Director of Finance & Administration works collaboratively to develop and implement strategic financial management plans. This position will be part-time and, as a virtual organization, requires a home office space.


  • Provides monthly financial statements to include variance updates for the organization
  • Prepares and presents quarterly financial statements for review by the Audit and Finance Committee and the Board of Directors
  • Ensures that all accounts receivable and payable reconciliations including journal entries are accurate and processed
  • Provide accounting and financial support for the organization
  • Prepares financial forecasts to support strategic directions and mid- to long-term planning.
  • Develops annual budgets, and monitors expenditures against budgets
  • Manages the organization?s reserves and monitors investments consistent with organizational policies
  • Ensures that all reporting requirements are consistent and adhered to in relation to all funding arrangements and or entities
  • Allocates funds received to the appropriate area
  • Ensure that external contracts/agreements, including salary adjustments are approved prior to authorizing payment
  • Develops, reviews, and evaluates the effectiveness of financial policies, procedures and operating systems and implements
  • Develops, maintains, implements, revises and evaluates financial systems to ensure they are efficient, relevant and effective
  • Works with the bank and auditors to ensure proper fiscal requirements are adhered to in an effective and efficient manner
  • Is responsible for the annual audit
  • Provides staff support the Audit & Finance Committee, including preparation of agendas in consultation with the Chair and the Executive Director, minutes, and briefing materials
  • Directs and manages the organization?s IT systems including assessing needs, ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place and manages related vendor contracts.
  • Manages HR administration including payroll, benefits, recruitment, etc.


  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience
  • Professional Accounting designation in good standing (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) required
  • Bachelor?s degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting/Finance
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports, audits and financial analysis
  • Independent self-starter experienced in the not-for-profit sector
  • Experienced in vendor management
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Proficient in computer software
