We have an immediate need for a CMS (Sterling OMS) Application Support Specialist with experience in the Retail/Wholesale Industry. This is full time opportunity in our office.

Brief summary of the position

Participate in multiple projects, providing consulting and analysis for the assigned applications and assistance in installation, configuration, architecture, support structure/process. Provide application support for all corporate actions related issues with a high degree of responsibility and independence. Secondary responsibilities include testing of 3rd party vendor and internal project deliverables assigned by the IT System Support manager and provide backup support for the bank’s non-corporate actions applications.

Job Functions, duties and responsibilities

  • Analyze, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, databases or utilities software
  • Ensure the maintenance and monitoring of system availability and performance of the production, test and development environments
  • Assist with application support working with other specialists in  Functional Analysis, Production Support, Development, Quality Assurance and the Business in responding to production issues
  • Monitor vendor sites for patches and participate in evaluating, documenting, implementing or applying of system upgrades/patches
  • Provide support on all core system software including web servers, application servers and middleware components
  • Provide level 1 and 2 operations support for application issues
  • Conduct proactive monitoring of application components
  • Assist with the planning, design, setup, and troubleshooting of such items as operating systems, systems management software, security software, productivity applications, and other software impacting company employees
  • Trouble-shoot application issues and provide detailed analysis to 3rd party vendors when needed.
  • Address and resolve all reported internal help desk issues reported by external clients
  • Provide day-to-day support and consultation to all clients units using the corporate issue system
  • Communicate directly with vendors and end users concerning the status of outstanding issues
  • Manage deployment and release of vendor codes to test and production environments
  • Prepare, Review, Update procedural and support documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all operations policies and procedures  
  • Participate in application customizations and extensions
  • Work with customers to understand and respond based on their needs


  • Minimum Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Applications
  • 5 + years production support experience with corporate actions processing and global custody operations
  • Strong experience with UNIX, Linux and MS Windows is a must
  • Strong expertise on Sterling OMS and is expected to work on incident tickets and production issues
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of corporate actions
  • Strong experience with VB, Database SQL queries, Unix, Shell scripting languages
  • Proficiency in IBM Sterling Commerce
  • Solid experience with a variety of business applications executing in a variety of operating environments  such as Oracle Weblogic, IBM WebSphere, Tibco, Jboss, Apache and Oracle 10G DB
  • Familiarity with ITIL processing guidelines
  • Experience in working directly with the end client
  • Experience on projects with 5 or more integrated systems
  • Ability to mitigate unexpected change and being able to communicate impacts as well as possible options to recover
  • Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall methodology practices
  • Exposure with test management and agile tools such as: HPQC, Jira, IntroScope, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate actions processing
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal business and technical
  • teams as well as vendors and consultants
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, conflicts and drive resolution
  • Ability to apply analysis skills to proactively understand and assess the impact of infrastructure and technical changes within the environment
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and take initiative in recognizing and resolving any problems, issues, or discrepancies

Job Type:        Full-time (35 hours)

Job location:   Main location in Vaughan, ON, frequent business travels to various Saskatchewan locations

Salary:            $68,500  yearly
