Service Warranty Technician-Regional Service Engineer
Position Summary:
Provide technical services, training, and warranty support to Bendix, Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake, and Knorr-Bremse customer base, including OEM's, Independent Distributors, Fleets and internal colleagues in the Northeast region, encompassing Toronto & Eastern Canada.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor field product issues and where necessary elevate concerns to the proper level within the organization.
- Troubleshoot Air Brake, Hydraulic Brake, Foundation Brake and Antilock Brake systems.
- Conduct training for Bendix, Bendix Spice Foundation Brake and Knorr Bremse customers on the proper installation and operation of components and systems.
- Install, remove, monitor or test brake components as requested by Elyria Engineering.
- Conduct Factory Product Schools at various locations within the region.
- Support Regional Account Managers by providing them and their customers with training and product support.
- Develop training programs for new product introduction as well as on-going program maintenance.
- Assist Regional Director and Account Managers in development and implementation of marketing strategies.
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of Air Brake, Hydraulic Brake, Foundation Brake and Antilock Brake systems
- Basic understanding of SAP
Skills:
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong problem solving skills, ability to uncover root causes and key drivers of product performance issues.
- Utilizes creative/innovative solutions to resolve complex problems/issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills. Capable of standing in front of small and large groups doing presentations.
- Self-starter.
- Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment such as Digital Volt Meter, and Computer Diagnostics.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Possesses exceptional planning and organizational skills.
- Must be able to prioritize the work load, selecting the customer requests that will benefit for the company most.
- Capable of performing in a customer-focused, team-based matrix organization is essential.
- Capable of successfully performing independently as well as in a team setting.
- Results oriented with demonstrated capability of meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent project/process management skills.
- Pursues training and/or experiences for self-development.
- Bi-Lingual - English/ French preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years related technical experience in the automotive heavy vehicle industry.
- Experience working in a large/matrix organization is preferred.
Education:
- Minimum two year automotive technical degree. B.S degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or similar certification in brake systems preferred.
Position Requirements:
- Must be able to:
- Travel both domestically 50% to 60% of the time. May be required to travel internationally on a minimal basis.
- Drive a vehicle for extended hours.
- Use computer keyboard and hand tools.
- Project their voice in a noisy environment.
-Routinely required to lift approximately 50 lbs.
-Must be capable of standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
