We are currently in search for a candidate who will be responsible for the management of and coordination of total supply chain efficiency; analyze existing transportation networks and systems and develop new ones; manage inbound and outbound distribution activities; lead and develop the Shipping, Receiving and Logistics team in meeting operations and department goals. This position reports to a Materials Director.
Responsibilities
- Using detailed operational analysis, develop shipping and freight strategy for the manufacturing and distribution facilities including carrier selection and rate negotiation to reduce costs and achieve maximum efficiency while maintaining best shipping and warehousing practices
- Ensure regulatory compliance
- Develop a strategy for dealing with records of damaged or defective items and other logistics discrepancies and ensure follow-up and preventative actions with carriers
- Stay informed of advances in logistics technology and apply appropriately to improve internal logistics processes.
- Develop load strategy for large projects
- Review logistics performance with customers against targets, benchmarks and service agreements
- Conduct ongoing cost benefit analysis to determine optimal warehouse location(s)
- Communicate timely and accurately with manufacturing locations for product information and estimated product arrivals
- Provide regular detailed reporting on management of product import from overseas locations
- Calculate total supply chain costs in relation to proposed new products
- Develop business plans and keep updated of new developments likely to affect the future purchase and movement of goods and services
- Actively participate in the management of warehouse operations and cost management
- Manage Shipping, Receiving and 3PL operations.
Qualifications
- 5 years progressive experience in Materials / Logistics in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership experience
- Working knowledge of ERP/APS software and excellent MS office computer skills
- Detail-orientated with strong analytical troubleshooting and problem resolution/solving skills
- Organized, self-motivated team player who is able to work well under pressure
- Strong ability to set priorities and work efficiently
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate in an effective and concise manner
- Ability to coordinate with other departments (i.e. marketing, engineering, purchasing and production)
- Ability to develop clear and up-to-date procedural documentation
