There are currently 240 jobs listed with the BC Public Service. That's an incredible amount! Want a sampling of what's out there?

As with many provinces, they are looking for medical and health related specialities, such as Child Protection Worker and Psychiatric Nurse and many other medical skill sets.

There are also positions advertised in the legal field, such as Legal Secretary and Crown Counsel.

They are also looking for Engineers, Correctional Officers, and a Forest Protection Technician; the list goes on to include Information Technology positions, Forestry postions, and more. If you have business expertise, they are also looking for managers and administrators.

If you have the desire to relocate to British Columbia or you already live there and you're looking for work, the Government of British Columbia has such a wide range of career and location choices that something might just be your perfect job. With 240 of them out there, it's certainly worth a look.

City of Thunder Bay Jobs

If you live in the Thunder Bay area or are considering relocating, you might want to take a look at what's available with the city.

They have a few opportunities in the field of healthcare, such as Health Care Aide, Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses, as well as Support Services Workers and Therapeutic Recreationist. In case you're wondering what a Therapeutic Recreationist does, it seems they put together programs and activities for care residents, in this case, seniors.

There are other positions available at the City of Thunder Bay at time of writing such as Financial Analyst, Supervisor - Materials Management, Executive Assistant, and Planning & Development Analyst.

Hiring at The Conference Board of Canada

This organization, based in Ottawa, studies economics, public policy, and provides information to Canadian business, government, and other organizations.

Since The Conference Board of Canada deals with policy and economics, it is looking for staff with experience in these areas, as well as experience with working in not-for-profit organizations and marketing.

They are currently looking to recruit for these positions: Principal Research Associate (Technology & Innovation), Senior Manager, Executive Networks (Organizational Excellence Research Group), Conference Marketer (Conference Programs - 2 positions), Research Associate (Canadian Tourism Research Institute), and Executive Conference Developers - Contract (Conference Programs.)

Most of these positions require advanced post-secondary experience, with emphasis on Economics and/or Public Policy.

Working for the Regional Municipality of Halifax

The Halifax Regional Municipality has a handful of job openings that close within the coming weeks so we thought we'd give you a heads up. If you are a resident or are considering relocating, it might be worth a look to see if there's a place for you there.

Currently, they are looking for, among other things, a Parkland Planner, four Payroll/Costing Coordinators, and a Process Technician for Environment Management Services.

As well, the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service is currently recruiting firefighters. You can find the requirements on the job ad.

Police Hiring at the City of Winnipeg

Winnipeg is looking for you if you are interested in becoming an officer of the law. Their new recruitment efforts start on August 1st, so there's some time for you to get ready.

The process includes (among others) a written test, screening interview, background check, and psychological and medical exams.

Once recruited, police constables undergo a 37 week basic training course. Salaries start at approximately $35,000.

There are some pretty specific requirements, so if you are interested in becoming one of Winnipeg's finest, check out the recruiting information on their website.

Jobs with the City of Barrie, ON

Even though, at time of writing, there are only three jobs available with the City of Barrie, we thought it might be helpful to our users from that region to have a look at what's available.

The three jobs are Health and Safety Advisor (closing date July 6, 2007,) Assessment Technician (closing date July 13, 2007,) and Policy Planner (closing date July 20, 2007.)

Canada Post Jobs in Rural Communities

Do you live in a small, rural community? If you have a tough time finding work in your area, why not check out the Canada Post website for positions?

Since communities have mail delivery, Canada Post hires rural mail carriers. For example, they are hiring (at time of writing) carriers in High Level (AB) , and Carberry (MB) as well as other areas.

They have positions in the larger cities too. Currently, most mail carrier positions seem to be in the western provinces.

At the time of writing, there are current opportunities such as Gardener, Animal Care and Control Officer (Seasonal), and a range of engineering positions.
